OnlineGewinner - the concept
OnlineGewinner is an internet-based lottery platform.
Compared to other lottery sites OnlineGewinner offers a much higher and completely transparent chance of winning, as the maximum number of lots per game is drawn
and notarially certified before a game is shown on the website. Customers can see the maximum number of lots for each game and plan their stake accordingly.
Lots can be placed via telephone or online. Independent of which one the user chooses he is instantaneously informed whether he has won or not.
This is OnlineGewinner's concept of 'instant happiness'.
OnlineGewinner - the web application
A prototyp of OnlineGewinner started in July 2006 and was tested over the period of two months. In September 2006 the full version of the OnlineGewinner web application
was developed and published. Weltenschmiede Ltd. was responsible for the technical conception, programming, design, server installation and support of the final web application
and the prototype. We used Java-Servlets (web application), PHP (backend), MySQL and HTML for this project.
As with previous projects we focused on the following two concepts in order to ensure short response times, stability and scalability for the application:
- A custom-made software-caching-layer to minimize database-queries and the associated I/O time. Of course this layer contains connection pooling as well.
- An architecture that allows to distribute the complete web application onto any number of servers. This allows for fast and cheap scaling of the
application in case of increasing traffic.
In addition to the core modules, the application is composed of the following custom-made components:
- Real-time lot purchase, made possible by interfacing with several online payment services
- category-navigation for all games
- automatic voucher system
- Login and personalised member area
- SSL encryption that can be either enabled for all pages or for the member area exclusively
- Automatic mail system for parametrised system mails
- Content management system with modules for game generation, merchandise management, statistics and customer management
- Premium winner service via SMS
